Artist Leesa Haapapuro invites you to be part of Passages, a community art project inspired by medieval illuminated manuscripts and incunabula—the very earliest printed books—coming this fall to the Rosewood Arts Center. Join her at The Dayton Metro Library, 215 East Third Street for Art in the City on Saturday, August 6, 1-7 pm.

Participants will use wood blocks to print their initial, then paint and gild them  with help from artist Tammy Rigsby whose exhibit of illuminated letters is on display at the library.

Your initial could become part of an epic poem by William Carlos Williams, the text winding it’s way through the hallways of the renovated Rosewood Arts Center, each page illuminated with gold leaf and colorful paintings.

This will be the first in a series of free workshops made possible by support from an Artist Opportunity Grant from Montgomery County, administered by Culture Works, the Downtown Dayton Partnership, and The Rosewood Arts Center.
