2021, mixed media, dimensions variable.

There are many things that divide us, cause misunderstanding, or create conflict. But what are the things that bring us together?

As artist-in-residence at the Dayton Metro Library, Haapapuro invited members of the community to participate in an art installation that explores ideas of what unites us.

Originally constructed in the Opportunity Space in the Main Library in downtown Dayton, which stands at the site of the old Patterson Canal, Bridges pays homage to Dayton’s history by incorporating several references to water and bridges in the building’s design. This project uses the metaphor of bridges as means of connection, focusing on what brings us together as a community.

Bridges is Moving to the Peace Museum

The installation is moving to the Peace Museum’s new location on downtown Dayton’s Courthouse Square, 10 North Ludlow Street, later this fall. Find out more about the Peace Museum.

Meanwhile you can participate online! Send ideas for finding common ground, promoting unity, and community building to leesa@leesahaapapuro.com.
